Policy Form
At “It’s A Dog’s Life” Spaw we want your pets grooming experience to be a stress-free and pleasant one. However it is important to realize that all dogs react differently to grooming. Please know that your pet’s comfort and safety are our #1 priority. Below is our standard policy form. Each client is asked to read and sign a copy at their first grooming appointment and it will remain on file. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
There are times when pre-existing conditions unforeseen to us, such as skin allergies, shampoo allergies, clipper sensitivity, matting and tangles, behavioral issues, bone or joint sensitivity, heart condition, seizures, etc. It is very helpful that you as the pet owner inform us of medical issues that you are aware of prior to grooming.
Matted Pet Policy: Pets with matted coats will require extra attention and time. If the matting is minimal and the dog responds well we will dematt for an extra fee. However, if the matting is severe the least painful and stressful way to remove the mats is by shaving your pet. We hope you know that we would never intentionally harm your pet and that we go to great lengths to ensure they are groomed in a safe and loving manner. But there is always a risk of nicks, cuts and abrasions due to warts, moles or skin folds trapped in the mats. Heavy matting can also trap moisture near the pet’s skin allowing mold, fungus or bacteria to grow, causing skin irritations that exist prior to the grooming process. After-effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions, and skin infections. Shaved pets are also prone to sunburn and should either have sun screen applied daily or should be kept out of the sun until the hair grows sufficiently to protect the skin. As a pet owner, you are responsible for the condition of your pet’s coat and will not hold “It’s A Dog’s Life” Spaw responsible in the event of adverse effects of severe mat removal. (Please note you will be notified beforehand if your pet will need to be shaved down). Prevention is the best defense against matting by scheduling regular grooming appointments and regular brushing at home. If you have any questions regarding at home maintence please feel to ask.
Senior Pets And Pets With Health Issues: Older pets and pets with health issues are at a greater risk of experiencing complication due to stress which needs extra special attention. Therefore senior pets and pets with health issues will be groomed strictly for safety, cleanliness and comfort only. We will not compromise your pet’s health and comfort to achieve “the perfect groom”. If for any reason we feel that your pet is under too much stress we will stop the grooming session immediately and the charges will be adjusted accordingly.
